Fans of found-footage horror will soon be able to check out Haunted Korean Hospital, an Indonesian adaptation of the 2018 South Korean horror hit Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.
Directed by Anggy Umbara and written by Lele Laila, the film follows a group of Indonesian content creators who travel to South Korea to livestream an overnight investigation inside the abandoned Yong-Won Hospital.
The hospital is known for disturbing stories involving violent incidents, cult activity and unexplained paranormal events, with the mysterious Room 402 at the center of many of the local legends.
Hoping to boost their online following, the group enters the building expecting a spooky broadcast, but instead, they find themselves dealing with increasingly strange and dangerous events as members begin disappearing and unexplained figures appear throughout the hospital.
Produced by MD Pictures, 402 Haunted Korean Hospital is the official Indonesian remake of Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. While it keeps the original’s livestream ghost-hunting concept, the film introduces Indonesian characters and incorporates elements of Indonesian supernatural folklore alongside the Korean setting.
Like its source material, the film uses handheld camerawork and a found-footage style to make viewers feel like they’re watching events unfold in real time, where it also explores how the pursuit of online fame can quickly spiral out of control when people are willing to take bigger risks for views.
The cast includes Arbani Yasiz, Saputra Kori, Elang El Gibran, Diandra Agatha, Lea Ciarachel and Aylena Fusil.
402 Haunted Korean Hospital is scheduled to open in Indonesian cinemas on July 9, 2026, with streaming plans expected to be announced at a later date.
