The iconic found-footage horror franchise returns with “V/H/S: SCP”
The long-running V/H/S found-footage anthology franchise is officially returning with a brand-new sci-fi feature film.
Production companies Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios have announced a joint partnership to develop “V/H/S: SCP.”
The upcoming movie will mark the very first official theatrical feature adaptation of the internet’s massive, collaborative sci-fi horror database.
Adapting the SCP Foundation Lore
The entire premise of the new film relies heavily on the rich fictional lore of the SCP Foundation. Originating online in 2008, the SCP Foundation is a sprawling, crowdsourced database centered around a secret, global organization.
The acronym itself stands for Special Containment Procedures, and within the lore, this clandestine agency is tasked with locating, securing, and studying various anomalous entities, objects, or phenomena that defy the laws of physics and natural science.
Online entries are uniquely structured as cold, clinical, and heavily redacted academic research papers, and these files categorize anomalies into distinct threat classes based on how difficult they are to contain.
These range from “Safe-class” objects to unpredictable “Euclid-class” entities, all the way up to highly catastrophic, world-ending “Keter-class” threats.
Famous online entries include SCP-173, a hostile concrete sculpture that attacks only when eye contact is broken, and SCP-682, a massive, hyper-intelligent, and virtually indestructible reptilian creature.
The Found-Footage Concept
Following previous franchise installments like 2024’s V/H/S/Beyond and last year’s V/H/S/Halloween, the production team is skipping a traditional annual release window to focus entirely on this new sci-fi direction.
V/H/S: SCP will adapt the cold, academic tone of the source material directly into the franchise’s signature found-footage format.
The individual short segments making up the anthology will be framed as “recovered field documentation” or highly classified, redacted video evidence, and the action will be captured entirely through first-person perspectives, including tactical body cams, scientific research logs, and security surveillance footage, showing the immediate chaos when these anomalous entities escape their cells.
The Production Team
While specific directors, screenwriters, and cast members have not yet been announced, the behind-the-scenes production team features several prominent names in modern genre filmmaking.
Producers Roy Lee (Hokum, Weapons) and Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) are spearheading the project under their Spooky Pictures banner, and they are joined by longtime V/H/S franchise producers Josh Goldbloom and Michael Schreiber.
In an official statement, producer Steven Schneider expressed his excitement about tapping into the vast creative universe of the SCP Wiki:

Along with INS, this next project reinforces our shared commitment to look in new and unexpected spaces for stories. We can’t wait to expand the V/H/S franchise with new, fresh, and terrifying stories that will keep viewers coming back for more.”
Theatrical Release Plan
V/H/S: SCP is scheduled to be released in cinemas worldwide next year, and ahead of the theatrical debut, fans can read through the thousands of potential creature files on the official SCP Wiki to speculate on which anomalies will appear on the big screen.
