Found footage horror gets a sleep paralysis twist in Night Terror, a new movie from Horror Dadz Productions coming to streaming in September.
Sleep paralysis is a subject that feels like it could make a brilliant horror film, and that’s the idea behind Night Terror, a new found footage horror movie from Horror Dadz Productions.
Shelly, a young woman who is suffering from recurring sleep paralysis and night terrors, decides to reach out for help, which brings her to the attention of two college students, Autumn and Will, and the pair decide to document Shelly’s experiences for a college project, presumably thinking they are going to be investigating something unusual but still relatively explainable.
Yeah, I am sure that doesn’t exactly work out.
The Isolation Is Part of the Horror
Night Terror was shot in Watseka, Illinois, a small rural town that director Joshua Brucker deliberately chose because of its isolated surroundings – Brucker grew up on a secluded farm, with his family living miles away from their nearest neighbors, and that experience clearly stayed with him.
He has talked about how frightening that isolation could feel as a kid, where if something happened, there wasn’t necessarily anybody nearby who could hear you or come running, and I have to say, that is actually a pretty damn good foundation for a horror movie, where Brucker’s own experiences also connect directly to his love of found footage, as he has cited The Blair Witch Project as one of the movies that first got him interested in the format, while the Paranormal Activity franchise helped convince him that he wanted to make films.
The Cast and Release Date
Night Terror is directed by Joshua Brucker and Hunter Nino, with Brucker also writing the screenplay, where the cast includes Marleigh Arnold, Hunter Nino, Madelynn Wierda, Berkeley Slightom and Samuel J. Howard.
The film comes from Horror Dadz Productions, Gray Sky Pictures and N15 Media, and Terror Films Releasing will bring Night Terror to streaming on September 4, 2026.
Brucker has also teased that the movie takes a major turn during its third act, so there may be more going on here than the usual sleep-paralysis-gone-supernatural setup.
