Horror in the High Desert 4: Majesty

Horror in the High Desert 4: Majesty (2025) Review

Horror in the High Desert 4: Majesty is a slow, deliberate expansion of the series rather than a turning point.

Synopsis

On a desolate Nevada ranch, a woman uncovers a long-buried box. What’s inside begins to expose a terrifying history she was never meant to find.

My Thoughts on Horror in the High Desert 4: Majesty

Good Points

The World Building

The series continues to feel like one long, fragmented investigation rather than disconnected sequels, and Majesty adds some depth to the desert mythology.

Consistent Tone

It maintains the same quiet, unsettling mood the series is known for.

Mixed Media

Interviews, recordings, phone calls, and found footage are blended smoothly enough, and the presentation helps to reinforce the sense of an incomplete truth.

Atmosphere

Older recordings tied to Dolly’s father give the film a rough, tactile feel, and the lo-fi visuals add to the atmosphere.

Performances

The acting is quite restrained, but fine.

Family Angle

The family angle added something interesting into the mix.

Bad Points

Very Slow Pacing

Even by series standards, Majesty moves very slowly, and a bit too slowly for me at times.

Familiar Themes

Obsession, secrecy, and inherited trauma have already been explored in earlier entries, and this film revisits those ideas without really reshaping them.

Less Tension

There are fewer moments that feel actively threatening compared to Firewatch or earlier chapters.

Not Much Explaination

I know the mystery needs to continue, but the continued refusal to explain key elements may eventually wear thin, and it did a bit for me here.

Final Thoughts on Horror in the High Desert 4: Majesty

Horror in the High Desert 4: Majesty is a slow, deliberate expansion of the series rather than a turning point.

You need to watch the previous movies first, but for fans already invested, it’s an intriguing chapter, even if it is frustrating and uneven at times.

Fediverse reactions

One response to “Horror in the High Desert 4: Majesty (2025) Review”

  1. I didn’t know there were 3 sequels to Horror in the High Desert.

The original was all right, I don’t remember it being all that memorable.

But I am definitely going to check out 2/3/4 during my after work movie time!

As strange as it sounds, found footage horror helps me relax and calm down.
