The franchise is returning, updating its found-footage horror for a new generation of tech and fear.
What We Know About the Next Paranormal Activity Movie
The next Paranormal Activity film is still keeping most of its story secret, but we do know the general direction it’s heading in, and whule no official title has been announced yet, I would guess it will be Paranormal Activity 8?
Like the earlier movies, it will focus on everyday life turning creepy when strange supernatural forces start messing with normal homes, so expect that slow-building tension the franchise is known for, where things start small and then gradually become more disturbing.
This new chapter is also expected to update the found-footage style for modern times, which means more use of current tech like home security cameras, phones, and other surveillance devices to tell the story, while still sticking to the franchise’s existing mythology.
It’s being treated as a sort of soft reboot for the series, and the idea is to refresh the formula for a new audience while keeping the core concept the same: invisible forces haunting ordinary people in ordinary places.
Behind the scenes, producers James Wan and Jason Blum are involved, both showing interest in evolving the franchise while keeping its low-budget, high-tension roots.
The film is directed by Ian Tuason, who recently directed Undertone, and the cast currently includes Chase Yi and Sonia Mena, with more casting to come.
There’s no trailer yet, but the movie is currently set to hit theaters on May 21, 2027.
