Synopsis

Social media influencers Abby and Shane buy a house to fix up, only for Shane to begin sleepwalking in dangerous and violent ways. As the events become more sinister, cameras around the house capture increasing paranormal activity.

The Early Clips Add A Nice Jump Around Style

The mix of older footage and later moments keeps things moving nicely and gives the story a natural rhythm.

The Sleepwalking Angle Works Really Well

Shane wandering at night, leaving the house, or digging in the yard helps keep it interesting enough without really overdoing it.

The Sleep Clinic And Medium Scenes Add Some Variety

These stops help break up the renovation setting and give the story new pieces without dragging it out.

The Small Details

Instead of handing you all the answers in the final act, the film sprinkles clues throughout, so you’re constantly connecting the dots.

Uses Its Limitations Well

With only a few actors and one main location, it sticks to what it can manage and manages to make it work smoothly enough.

Sleep Stalker Bad Points

Some Scenes Start To Feel Repetitive

A few of the nighttime moments do become a bit repetitive, and could’ve used more variety in these sequences like some of the other parts did.

Shane’s Escalation Scenes

He goes from concerned to intense pretty quickly in some scenes, and maybe it was just me, but it felt a bit too rushed.

The Style Might Throw Some People Off

If you miss even a moment, it could be easy to lose track of where certain clips fit in.

Feels A Little Basic

I know it’s a low budget found footage movie, but we have a lot of familiar cheap beats happening at times.

A Few Sleepwalking Moments Look A Bit Overdone

Shane’s movements sometimes look a bit too dramatic, rather than the unsettling vibe the film wants/needs.

Final Thoughts on Sleep Stalker

Sleep Stalker keeps things pretty simple and steady, but has some repetitive moments and leans on familiar ideas/tropes too much at times.

But it was fine overall, and some of it I found interesting enough.
