For Sale by Exorcist found footage horror-comedy film 2025

For Sale by Exorcist Review (2025)

For Sale by Exorcist is quite a silly film, but it has a certain charm.

Synopsis

After years of exorcising haunted houses, realtor Susan Price finally finds her dream home, until the spirits she’s evicted return, threatening to make it her final resting place. Now, she must banish them for good.

My Thoughts

For anyone who hasn’t seen this film yet, I will start by saying For Sale by Exorcist is basically a comedy with a little bit of supernatural fluff tossed in.

It’s like a little sitcom about a real estate agent who moonlights as a certified exorcist, and it’s a fun little idea, but it is very light on the horror, shall we say.

The humor in the film will make or break whether you like this one, and if you’ve ever been through the absolute nightmare of buying a home, you might get a chuckle here and there.

The film makes fun of those ridiculous house-hunting shows, the type of shows where the real estate agent pretends that the stained carpet is “character”, and that you should totally buy the place because it “has potential.”

When it comes to the ghost stuff, well, it’s really just some quick, slapstick gags, and plays out more like Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre with a touch of the supernatural.

Emily Classen plays the main character, Susan, and does so with a kind of charm that I can only describe as “mildly adorable”, and she’s got this whole Southern thing going with all her sayings that might have you rolling your eyes at first, but then you realize, “Alright, I get it, you’re trying to sell me on this and you’re doing your best.”

For Sale by Exorcist is not trying to be a scary film, it’s incredibly lighthearted and a little silly, and is basically just a comedy, as mentioned.

It has corny jokes about real estate and a few ghostly hiccups that don’t go anywhere, and it’s short, harmless, slightly weird, and while I wouldn’t say this is a must watch by any means, it had its moments, just treat it as a very silly comedy film and you might get something out of it.

Good Points

Unique Premise – The idea of a real estate agent who’s also an exorcist is quite fresh and fun, and it’s a somewhat interesting twist on both genres, blending the mundane with the supernatural.

Comedy that Will Land for Some – If you’ve ever dealt with the chaos of buying a house or watched a home-hunting reality show, this film’s humor might hit the mark, as it knows exactly how to poke fun at those situations.

The Charm of Emily Classen – Emily Classen delivers a charming performance as the lead, giving Susan a likable, quirky vibe that’s fun to watch without overacting.

Bad Points

Niche Humor – Some of the jokes feel a bit forced or too obvious, and the humor is pretty niche, so not everyone will find it funny.

Underdeveloped Ghost Story – The ghostly occurrences are thin and often seem like filler, and I think the film could have done more with the supernatural elements.

Inconsistent Tone – The film doesn’t really know if it’s a horror comedy or just a straight-up comedy. It starts off with a bit of potential for horror but quickly shifts to slapstick, leaving you unsure of what it’s actually trying to be.

Is It Worth Watching?

Maybe? If the humor connects you will no doubt get some laughs. I enjoyed Emily Classen’s performance and the film does have a certain charm, but don’t expect much horror, but it’s a film that has its moments I think.
