Kane Parsons is in the money as he brings his horror series ‘The Backrooms’ to the big screen.
About The Backrooms
Based on the viral short film series of the same name, which has amassed a ton of views, A24 are now bringing a full length version to the big screen, with original creator Kane Parsons (Kane Pixels) set to direct. This will make him the youngest director in the history of A24 films. And it even has James Wan and Shawn Levy on board as executive producers.
Although the film’s plot and release date is not yet known, the original YouTube series gained popularity for its use of found-footage storytelling to craft a creeping horror universe centered around liminal spaces and locations that seem to exist on the edge of reality.
We do know that Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve will star in the film, and that production on the movie will begin in the summer of 2025.
Dan Cohen and Dan Levine are also on board with the project and will produce the feature, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing. Chris White, who brought the project to A24, will also executive produce. The film is being co-financed by Chernin Entertainment, a part of The North Road Company.
Really looking forward to this.
