Invoking Scream will be exploring the dark intersections of supernatural horror and extreme music.
About Invoking Scream
Invoking Yell, which was released on streaming platforms in 2024 after initially releasing at festivals in 2023, is a Chilean found footage horror movie that didn’t hit all the right notes for me.
If you want something engaging from the get go with horror elements, you might get bored with this, as it doesn’t really kick in for an hour or so. As I mentioned, personally I did not mind that but I can see a lot of people getting bored with it.
But if you’re OK with a slow pace and letting it all build, and in particular if you’re a black metal fan and connect with the characters, it’s worth staying the course.
But it’s a film that could have been really good, but falls a bit flat.
And now we have news that a sequel is in the works which will be titled Invoking Scream.
Invoking Scream explore the dark intersections of supernatural horror and extreme music, this time centering on a death metal band set in the late 2000s.
Patricio Valladares will be returning to direct, and María Jesús Marcone will be returning from the first film.
No other news is known right now with no poster or teaser trailer having been released, but I will update the page as new news arrives.
Personally, while I didn’t vibe with Invoking Yell too much, I didn’t dislike it, it was half decent and was wonderfully shot, and I liked the overall gritty feel of the film, but it didn’t quite have the balance quite right.
But I will looking forward to Invoking Scream being released.
