Synopsis
Megan and Amy are the best of friends, almost like sisters. The screen freezes and a caption appears saying that Megan disappeared without a trace on January 14, 2007, and that Amy followed suit three weeks later.

If you have never watched the 2011 found footage movie Megan is Missing, it is now available to watch on Tubi for free, and if you have never seen Megan Is Missing, be warned, it isn’t for everyone.
Made on a budget of around $35,000, it tells the story of two 14-year-old girls who mysteriously disappear and the film shows their lives through videos they had made.
The film became infamous in 2011 when it was released, mainly due to some its disturbing content and unsettling themes about online dangers, which make it hard to watch.
The film was so controversial that no studio wanted to release it for five years after it was made because of how disturbing it is.
In 2020, TikTok users found the film and started posting about it and it ended up going viral and gaining attention.
When this happened, the director, Michael Goi, had to post a video on the platform, warning people about how intense the movie is.

I got a text from Amber Perkins, the lead actress in my movie, that it was exploding on TikTok at the moment and I didn’t get to give you the customary warnings that I used to give people before they watched Megan Is Missing, which are: do not watch the movie in the middle of the night, do not watch the movie alone, and if you see the words ‘Photo Number One’ pop up on your screen, you have about four seconds to shut off the movie if you’re already kind of freaking out before you start seeing things that maybe you don’t want to see.
So, apologies to those who are already posting about how the movie has freaked them out, but fair warning to those of you who are still contemplating watching the film. Thanks.
The directors motivation for the film was to actually make it a film as a caution for parents about the online dangers as a wake up call, but Megan Is Missing didn’t quite have that effect and has ended up being a very controversial film.
Personally I think it is a film you should watch at least once, but as mentioned, it isn’t for everyone, so be warned….
