Puzzle Box has been getting some positive reviews ahead of its streaming release on October 11th.
Synopsis
Puzzle Box is an unsettling found-footage nightmare that follows Kait, a desperate addict who seeks refuge in a remote house in the woods to self-rehabilitate, where she is joined by her younger sister Olivia to document the process.
Strange things then begin to happen as the house’s layout begins to change, and the two find themselves trapped inside an inescapable, nightmarish puzzle box.
About Puzzle Box
Written and directed by Jack Dignan, this film has been hitting film festivals and getting some good reviews from those that have watched it, and it currently sits at 7.2 on IMDB, so is one to keep an eye out for.
Unnamed Footage Festival previews the film as:
Newcomer Jack Dignan’s direction and extremely clever editing take an otherwise unspectacular location and turn it into a labyrinthine hell, which is further elevated by Kaitlyn Boyé’s amazing performance, creating a piece of liminal horror that’s destined to be a found footage classic.
Well, found footage classic is certainly brings big expectations, doesn’t it?
And director Jack Dignan had this to say:
Puzzle Box isn’t a film I ever thought I would make. After my first film (After She Died) came out, I didn’t expect this to be what I worked on next. I wasn’t planning on doing a small little self-contained found footage horror movie ever in my life, let alone right at this moment.
But once the idea came to me, I knew I had to make it. There was something special about it; something scary and exciting and fresh, and the process of making it thrilled me. I had to do it.
And it was an experience I hold dear to my heart. This is a very special movie to me, for a number of reasons, and a special movie like this needs the right festival to premiere at, which is why I was thrilled to hear that Popcorn Frights wanted to host our world premiere.
This is a festival I’ve admired from afar for quite some time. They embrace the weird, the wonderful and the frightening, and having gotten a sneak peak at what’s in store at this year’s festival, I’m honoured to be included amongst such wonderful movies
Puzzle Box is set to release on streaming platforms on October 11th and will star Kaityn Boye, Laneikka Denne, Cassandre Girard, Janelle McMenamin, Matias Klaver, and Hazel Pompeani.
